Tap Start sequence when the race committee makes the warning signal. Every call comes through your earbuds — you never have to look down.
Off by a few seconds, or you started the app late? Hit a sync button on the committee's horn and the clock snaps to that mark and keeps going.
Both sync buttons also work from a standing stop, so you can join a sequence already under way. They are hidden in PRO mode — on the committee boat you set the time, so there is nothing to sync to.
For running a start by radio instead of flags. Hold the phone speaker up to the mic, key the radio, then tap start. The clock runs 3:30: the first thirty seconds are a heads up so the fleet knows a countdown is coming, then the three minute countdown proper begins.
Pick PRO 5:00 and the app talks the committee boat through it. It opens a minute before the warning signal so you have time to get the flag and the horn in hand. Every flag movement gets the same three calls: a twenty second stand by, then the flag and horn named on the count, then five to one, then the call itself.
The app's own tone matches the length of the sound you owe — short for the signals, long for the one minute. It calls the preparatory flag as papa; substitute I, Z, U or black if your sailing instructions say so, and check the instructions for any change to the five-minute interval.
Press and hold Reset for a moment to clear the clock. The hold is deliberate — it stops you killing a live sequence with a wet thumb.
